Pre-Matric Scholarship

This scholarship is exclusively for full-time students enrolled in Government Schools in Classes IX and X. To be eligible, the total annual income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 2,50,000. Students will receive an annual cumulative academic allowance of Rs. 4,000. An amount of Rs. 32.44 crore has been disbursed to the States and Union Territories for the implementation of the Scheme up to January 18, 2024, for the fiscal year 2023–2024.

Post-Matric Scholarships

Designed to support students pursuing post-matriculation or post-secondary education, this scholarship requires that the total annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2,50,000. Students are entitled to an academic allowance ranging from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 20,000 based on the type of course. A total of Rs. 387.27 crore has been released to the States and Union Territories for the execution of the Scheme through January 18, 2024, for the fiscal year 2023–2024.

Top Class School Education

This initiative aims to fund the education of deserving students from OBC, EBC, and DNT categories, starting from Class 9 and continuing through Class 12, providing them access to high-quality education. The total annual income from all sources for eligibility is Rs. 2,50,000. Scholarships cover tuition fees, room and board, and other specified expenses by the school, up to a maximum of Rs. 75,000 for students in classes 9 and 10, and Rs. 1,25,000 for students in classes 11 and 12. The National Scholarship Portal will accept applications for the Scheme until January 31, 2024.

Top-tier College Education Program

With the goal of recognizing and fostering high-quality education, the program extends comprehensive financial support to students falling under the OBC, EBC, and DNT categories. Eligibility criteria include a total annual income not exceeding Rs. 2,50,000 from all sources.

Scholars admitted to designated institutions will receive financial assistance covering (a) the complete cost of tuition and non-refundable fees, capped at Rs. 2.00 lakh per student annually for private sector schools and Rs. 3.72 lakhs per student annually for private sector flying clubs (applicable to Commercial Pilot Training and Type Rating Courses); (b) monthly living expenses at a rate of Rs. 3,000 per student; (c) books and stationery at a rate of Rs. 5,000 per year for each student; and (iv) a state-of-the-art laptop or computer with peripherals, including a printer and UPS, up to a maximum of Rs. 45,000 per student as one-time assistance during the course.

The National Scholarship Portal will accept applications for the Scheme until January 31, 2024.

Establishment of OBC Boys’ and Girls’ Hostel

In an effort to provide students from socially and educationally disadvantaged classes, especially those from rural areas, improved access to high-quality education, the scheme aims to offer hostel facilities. This will enable them to pursue secondary and postsecondary education at government schools, universities, institutions, and institutes within reasonable travel distance.

A sum of Rs 12.75 crore has been allocated to the States and Union Territories for the implementation of the Scheme through December 2023 during the fiscal year 2023-24.
