This initiative targets around 94 lakh poor families identified after conducting a comprehensive census of the state’s population. The scheme aims to uplift economically weaker sections by facilitating entrepreneurship. More than 90 lakh people living below the poverty line in Bihar stand to benefit from this program. Beneficiaries receive the assistance amount in three installments. Various schemes are being implemented by the government to improve the employment ratio, and this initiative is one among them. The scheme has allocated a budget of approximately Rs. 10,000 crores for the fiscal year 2024-25. Administrative approval of Rs. 1,250 crores has been granted for its implementation.

The administrative approval of Rs. 1,250 crores has been granted for the operation of this scheme. Bihar Laghu Udhmi Yojna 2024
On January 16, 2024, the Bihar Cabinet approved the Bihar Laghu Udyami Yojna. This initiative is launched by the Bihar government’s Department of Industries. It aims to benefit poor families in the state by providing financial support. Under this scheme, eligible individuals will receive a grant of ₹200,000 directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The Bihar government has allocated a budget of ₹1,000 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25 for this scheme. The government has decided to grant ₹200,000 to one member of such families as financial assistance, which they do not need to repay. Every family under this scheme will receive ₹200,000 to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment. This will empower all poor citizens to start their own businesses, thereby addressing unemployment issues.
This scheme is applicable to all citizens who do not have funds to start any business. The financial assistance provided by the government will be directly transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account through DBT.
Approximately 9.4 million families will benefit from the Small Entrepreneur Scheme launched by the state government. Each beneficiary will receive the assistance amount in three installments.
